A modern portal for chemical risk science
Overview
We built a performant research portal for EU-PARC that centralizes publications, projects, methods, and events with faceted search, multilingual UX, clear taxonomy, and WCAG-aligned design - so stakeholders find the right evidence fast.

Behind the Project
EU-PARC (European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals) brings together leading organizations to strengthen chemical risk assessment across Europe. The partnership needed a robust, searchable portal to publish research outputs, coordinate work packages, and communicate impact to scientists, regulators, and citizens.• Dispersed content across work packages made discovery difficult for non-experts
• Need for structured publishing of publications, methods, projects, news, and events
• Multilingual requirements and strong accessibility (WCAG) compliance
• High traffic during releases required fast performance and reliable search
SoftXPro delivered a Drupal 10 portal optimized for speed, structure, and governance.
Key steps:
• Information Architecture & Taxonomy - clear content model for publications, methods, projects, events
• Faceted Search - filters by topic, work package, year, media type for rapid discovery
• Editorial Workflows - roles, review/approval, and bulk import of legacy content
• Multilingual & Accessibility - EN-first with WCAG AA patterns and translation-ready setup
• Performance & SEO - image styles, caching/CDN headers, structured metadata (OpenGraph/JSON-LD)
• API-ready - modular architecture prepared for future dataset exchange and visualizations
The Results
• Findability & speed - Faceted search and optimized caching deliver fast, relevant results.
• Editorial efficiency - Structured content types and workflows cut publish time and rework.
• Accessibility & trust - WCAG-aligned design and rich metadata improve clarity and credibility.
• Future-ready - Modular build leaves room for datasets, APIs, and data visualizations.
